If you cannot stop imagining the smell of the sea it is about time you set yourself to plan for your island getaway.

Naturally, the first consideration should be your budget. How much will you be willing to spend and how much do you need to save? This is crucial to have a smooth sailing experience and to avoid overspending. The next step is to figure out what you want to do and the type of commodities you want to have while on the island. Do you want to visit a place that has a lot of modern water activities, or would you prefer a laid-back mood where you can just laze on the beach the whole day? Do you need a luxurious hotel, or would a pleasant cottage beside the sea suffice?

Once you have figured out the first two factors you can now figure out the other ‘essential’ experiences for your Island vacation. You can consult travel websites, agencies, and reading materials. Otherwise, ask recommendations from people you know. After successfully hammering down step three, start the countdown to your paradise holiday!

The evenings at this seaside paradise are relatively low-key. The reason is the desire of the people to keep the archipelago’s reputation as one of the world’s best honeymoon destinations, especially for couples who wish to have ‘privacy’. But there is still a colourful night life in Seychelles, and there are bars that offer a laid back atmosphere as you sip cocktails that are a unique blend with locally distilled rum. Other hotels offer live music ranging from cover bands to performers of Seychellois music and dance. Guests are encouraged to join in the performance at one part of the show. If you want to get your dancing shoes on, try out one of the dance clubs, but make sure you wear the appropriate dress code.

Casinos are one of the more prominent attractions for late night entertainment. They draw a great number of tourists with an assortment of playing tables and slot and fruit machines that are believed to give the biggest winnings in the archipelago.

On the other hand, if you would like to enjoy the picturesque setting sun, take a romantic sunset cruise or other activities offered by your host.

Strongly influenced by a mixture of cultures in their cuisine, Seychellois cooking has a taste of African, Indian, French, English, and Chinese cuisine combined into their own island dishes. Curries, breadfruit and rice are a staple to every meal for the locals. As it is surrounded by the sea, seafood, especially fresh fish, is a main component of their menus. They use various methods in cooking seafood.

If you are more of the adventurous gastronome, have a bit of their ‘rousettes’ or fruit bats. Those who have tried this menu said it tastes similar to venison but can be a bit challenging to eat because of the tiny bones of the nocturnal fliers. You can find this dish in restaurants and have a choice of how it will be served.

Another exotic platter is the ‘cuisine bourgeoisie Seychelloise,’ which is made of jackfish terrine, gratin of palm heart, breadfruit and chicken salad, papaya flowers chutney, and rice.

You will truly dig in to the heart of Seychellois culture when you have a taste of their unique cooking.

Travelling as a group can be either an experience that will bring stronger bonds, or it can create tension and mayhem and ruin even the deepest friendships. You do not want that to happen to you on your group holiday. The key is careful and cooperative planning.

You should call first for a meeting to talk about everyone’s desires for the trip, the budget, and the individual financial share. What expenses are going to be shared and what will be personal? Make sure this is clear to everybody to avoid any future conflicts about money. After that, you can discuss your accommodation and travel options. Try to work out what would be more convenient for the majority and if anyone as any special needs. Next up are the activities you want to experience. Work on an itinerary that will include at least one activity that each member will enjoy. Lastly, make sure you continuously update everyone with any progress or changes, including your financial status.

Every year, the Festival Kreol is hosted by one of the districts so that more islanders can experience the celebration. For several days, there is partying and a gathering of people who have the talent or interest in the different forms of art.

For those who are skilled in language and communication, there is a Public Speaking contest where teams of four Seychellois youths choose a topic to present in the Kreol language. This aims to develop Kreol and inculcate appreciation for their mother tongue. In the visual arts, there is a contest open to young people. Their works are exhibited and their creativity in depicting the local culture is showcased. For the fashion fanatic, you can watch the ‘Fon Lanmal’, featuring the upcoming Seychellois designers, where you can see pieces made from indigenous materials. As for music lovers, one highlight is the ‘Konpetisyon Kanmotle’, a night of traditional music and dance.

Partying during the festivities will surely give you fun in the sun, but it will also give you a piece of the heart of the islands as you learn what Seychelles is really all about.

Ethnicity in Seychelles is quite diverse. Because of this, its cuisine features influences from the French, Indian and the Orient. Its dishes revolve mostly around sea foods that are enhanced with spices and coconut milk. The use of herbs in this country is important. Not only do these improve the flavour of their food, spices provide health benefits.

The island locals use crushed chillies for their sauce and dishes. This spice contains capsaicin, which relieves inflammation and pain. It also clears lung and nose congestion. It alleviates stomach ulcer by getting rid of bacteria. Another important spice in Seychelles is ginger. It has an active ingredient, which is gingerol. This is said to calm down blood vessels in order to stimulate proper blood flow. It eases pain and aids in digestive processes. Garlic is also widely used in the country. It provides a wonderful aroma to their dishes. Plus, it fights heart diseases, reduces blood pressure, and decongests clogged nose.

There are several other herbs and spices in the archipelago. All of these come with therapeutic benefits.

If you are interested in starting a business in Seychelles, here are specific procedures that you need to follow before you can launch your company.

Start by determining if your firm’s name is unique and reflective of your business goals and products. You can do this for 1-2 days without being charged for the service. Next, pass legal documents for stamp assessment at the Company Registry. This can take up to 3-4 days and the charge depends on your nominal capital. Afterwards, acquire a registration certificate. This will take you 7-10 days but without a fee. Then, file company particulars, which can take up to 7 days and with payment.

You also have to acquire a business license and you have 7-21 days to complete this. It comes with a charge, especially if you are a retailer. Additionally, you need to get tax registration. This does not involve any fee and can be completed in one day. Moreover, obtain employee registration with the social security division. Finally, register with the Employment Services.

You just love sunny days and beaches, which is why you have a second home in Seychelles. However, there are times that the heat is unbearable. There are many ways for you to beat the hot and humid weather though. You can use fans or an air conditioning system. While these are all effective, you can go for an environment-friendly option.

You can fight off heat efficiently by surrounding your home with trees, which can provide your estate with shade. You can also put ornamental plants inside the house to make your environment even cooler. Take note also that another benefit that you can get from trees and plants is low electricity bills. After all, if your home is not affected by the heat much, there will be no need to use cooling appliances, which can really boost your energy expenses. Not only that, the value of your home will surely increase with a great landscaping. So what are you waiting for, surround your property with trees and plants now to reduce heat and to reap all the other benefits!

Officially known as the “Republic of Seychelles”, this archipelago consists of 115 islands. It is mostly made up of beaches, trees, and mountains. If you want to get the most out of your holiday here, one of your best options is to hire a car. Renting a vehicle will let you explore the island country without having to rely on other passengers. You can look around the beautiful towns and discover its wonderful culture. There are several car rental services surrounding Seychelles. You can take a pick from luxurious fleets to sturdy Jeeps. The latter are great for off-road driving.

If you want to transfer from one island to another, renting out boats is excellent. You can ask a local to take you to your different destinations. On the other hand, you can choose to row yourself there. There are also boat tours, where you will be riding along with other holiday goers. Overall, you will truly enjoy your vacation in Seychelles with these two types of hired services.

Shopping in Seychelles is absolutely refreshing. There are no large shopping centres and busy markets, thus, its retail business is therapeutic and carried on in a laid-back manner. Furthermore, most of the items sold are made locally. Great products that a visitor of Seychelles can buy include handicrafts made by local artists and artisans. Items could range from soaps, ceramics and even beautifully crafted accessories. Home-brewed liquors are also available at reasonable prices. Tourists could also purchase marvellous South African diamonds, which are actually very easy on the pockets. For those interested in sculptures, they can always get beautiful coral and wood carvings made by a local artist. It goes without saying that Seychelles also has its share of providing fantastic shopping experience!
