Praslin Island
Praslin is one of the most visited and largest islands after Mahé which is only fifteen minutes away by plane or an hour by sea. Almost a century ago, General Gordon of Khartoum visited this island and became convinced that he had actually found the original Garden of Eden. He was the first to discover the famous coco de mer, the gigantic nut shaped like a female pelvis, which he then identified with Eve.

Gigantic nut in the Shore
This idyllic island is considered by many travel experts and professional nature photographers as the most famous holiday island in the world today. One will find the perfect setting for heavenly isolation with the many secluded beaches scattered in the island. Beaches and nuts are not the only things popular here, there is the Black Pearl which is the only oyster farm in the entire Indian Ocean; the gallery of George Camille for painting exhibits and Vallee de Mai, the UNESCO declared World Heritage Site.
